- Linear momentum: L = mVG
- Angular momentum: HG = IG ω
- L = mVG
- HG = 0
- L = mVG
- HG = IG ω or HO = IO ω
- L = mVG
- HG = IG ω or HIC = IIC ω
Impulse & Momentum
This combines kinematics with the equation of motion. Problems involving force, velocity, and time can be solved.
- Lx2 - Lx1 = ∫Fx dt
- Ly2 - Ly1 = ∫Fy dt
- HG2 - HG1 = ∫MG dt Can also be applied to a fixed point O (IOω2^2 - IOω1^2 = MO dt)
Conservation of Momentum
When the impulses acting on the system is zero then:
- Linear Momentum: ∑L1 = ∑L2
- Angular Momentum: ∑H1 = ∑H2
Eccentric Impact
Occurs when the line of impact does not lie in the same line as the line that goes through both bodies center of mass.
This type of impact is very similar to central or oblique impact
